I’m all over this song right now. Boot stompin, say thank ya.
UNREAL
Hey Everybody – you don’t wanna miss this tour, ha ha ha! XOBC
Saw this for real last night. AMAZING.
LP- Into the Wild
This is one of those songs that I just CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF. Worms it’s way into my head at all hours of the day.
“Crisp whistling”.
Now that’s what I call a delicious tune, all courtesy of you, Zaneta girl!
How are we living? Into the wild.
holy snapalap girls got PIPES. Lissie “You Make Me Feel”
This album (set of albums? concept journey?) is nothing short of exceptional. There’s such a range of lyricism, tone, musicality between the three of them, and this one snuck up on me while lesson planning (aka, shuffling through itunes and drinking tea and doingeverythingexceptsittingdowntowriteanythingdown) and I love those drums. And that lil guitar twiddle. I’m gonna learn how to do that one day.
Driving South, The Early November
I have this friend who was born again.
Every morning he wakes relieved of his sins.
Oh, after hours of losing himself,
He gets to his knees and he prays for his health.
And to the palm trees and driving south
It’s in the waves where we find ourselves
Back at the ocean to meet with dirt where we will weigh and find ourselves.
And we will talk in ways that life has been so mean
And see, there’s always someone, always stepping on me.
Oh please, please, please, tell me.
Oh wake me, wake me, But don’t tell me I’m lazy when I
Pull the covers back over my face.
Oh wake me, wake me, because we’re all going crazy
and we’re always preaching that everyone’s wrong.
And to the palm trees and driving south
It’s in the the waves where we find ourselves
back at the ocean to meet with dirt we will weigh to find ourselves
So we can talk of ways that life has been so mean
And see there’s always someone, always stepping on me.
Oh please, please, please, tell me.
Also, Ani DiFranco, Half Assed, although it’s really more one of those songs you need to hear before it jumps on you, monkeyback styled.
And i start slippin away
I was taught to zip it
If i got nothin nice to say
And down in the texas of my heart
Driving a really big truck
Headed down a dirt road
My love is scrunchin up it’s features
The really big eyes
Big lips, big nose
Just show me a moment that is mine
Its beauty blinding and unsurpassed
Make me forget every moment that went by
And left me so half-hearted
Cuz i felt it so half-assed
You are an unruly translucent
A dirty windshield with a shifting view
So many cunning running landscapes
For my dented door to open into
I just wanna tune out all the billboards
Weld myself a mental shield
I just wanna put down all the pressures
And feel how i really feel
Just show me a moment that is mine
Its beauty blinding and unsurpassed
Make me forget every moment that went by
And left me so half-hearted
Cuz i felt it so half-assed
Spring is super in the supermarkets
And the strawberries prance and glow
Nevermind that they’re all kinda tart and tasteless
As strawberries go
Meanwhile wild things are not for sale
Anymore than they are for show
So i’ll be outside, in love with the kind of beauty
It takes more than eyes to know
Just show me a moment that is mine
Its beauty blinding and unsurpassed
And i’ll forget every moment that went by
And left me so half-hearted
Cuz i felt it so half-assed
Sometimes I can’t remember what I’ve already posted vs. what I’ve shared with other people in other mediums vs. what I REALLY WANT TO LISTEN TO RIGHT NOW, FORGET YOU! Just kidding, I love you.
Tell me what you know about dreaming.
Oh da-da-DIA, you betcha cute self (and slammin vocals) I won’t kick the chair! Work it, Cudi, you’re sick. Is it strange that I have pretend dialogue with various musical artists everytime I hear a new song? Probably. Am I concerned? Nope. Will it stop? Not a chance :)
Don’t Kick the Chair | Dia Frampton [ft. Kid Cudi]
Walk off the Earth | Somebody that I used to know (Gotye Cover)
FOSTER. WHY CAN’T I GET ENOUGH OF YOU. Boogie onward, good souls!
You Always Hurt the Ones You Love by Ryan Gosling
Now that movie is actually pretty bad, but his voice is pretty excellent. I always assumed that it was a cover of Elvis, but really it’s the Mills Brothers. And he sounds like an adorable warbling puppy dog howling at the moon.
This is utterly delicious, and why I love following music blogs. Thaaaank you!
Of Monsters and Men - Dirty Paws
Iceland! Iceland! What do you put in your water? You give me Björk, Sigur Rós, Emilíana Torrini and now Of Monsters and Men?
This sextet’s first album is like this perfect smorgasbord of indie music. Little bit of Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, sprinkle of Florence & the Machine and a touch of the xx. Admittedly, Dirty Paws is not their catchiest song (that award goes to Little Talks) but I think it best represents the album as a whole. I also love how evocative the lyrics are.
Their new album, My Head is an Animal, is only available in Iceland but it’s slated for an early 2012 US release. To tide you over, you should check out their EP Into The Woods.
p.s. Oh and did I forget to mention that their song, “Little Talks” is the free single of the week on iTunes?
I KNEW it was real!
Truth! I get goosebumps when listening to really good music :)
accurate.
I need to stop drinking classy beverages of a deliciously intoxicating nature and think it’s ok to sing extra loud and poorly at my poor rooomate. Whatever, her name is Jolene, so it doesn’t even matter. It’s basically her fault.
That’s enough creativity for one night.
I swear I had posted this before, but in my rampage of cooking chicken and drinking wine and demanding Ellie Goulding last night, I guess not! I’m giving myself three more minutes of computron time before I go tackle something else. Golly, being productive is HARD WORK.
Ha. Maybe I’ll do my voice final. Maybe I’ll do a handstand. Emphasis on the latter. Yahoo!
